What it is
A gas fireplace burns cleaner than wood, but its burner, pilot assembly, glass and logs collect dust and residue, and its vent can be blocked by debris, nests or corrosion. Small problems show up as a pilot that will not stay lit, sooty glass, odd flame color or a unit that shuts off on its own. An annual check keeps it in good working order.
Signs you need it
- The pilot will not light or stay lit, or the fireplace shuts off after a few minutes
- Soot or a white haze on the glass
- Yellow, lazy or uneven flames
- An odor when the fireplace is running
- You have not had it serviced in more than a year
What we do
- Clean the burner, pilot assembly, glass and logs
- Check ignition, the thermocouple or thermopile, and controls
- Inspect the venting and termination for blockages, damage and proper clearances
- Check log placement and flame pattern
- Recommend inserts, logs or venting upgrades only when they make sense
What you get
A short written summary with photos of what we checked and cleaned, and an itemized quote only if parts or repairs are needed.
