What it is
A wood stove, fireplace insert or pellet stove vents through a liner or connector pipe. Creosote, fly ash and soot collect in the liner, on the baffle and in the smoke shelf, which narrows the vent and hurts draft. A stove sweep cleans the unit and the full flue connection, not just the firebox.
Signs you need it
- You burn the stove or insert most of the winter
- Smoke or a smoky smell when you open the door
- The fire is hard to keep going or the glass blackens fast
- Ash or creosote buildup on the baffle or in the firebox
- A pellet stove that runs poorly or shows error codes after heavy use
- It has been a year or more since the last sweep
What we do
- Lay drop cloths and set up a HEPA vacuum
- Brush the liner or connector pipe end to end
- Clean the baffle, smoke shelf and firebox
- Check gaskets, door seals and the liner connection
- Leave the unit clean and ready to burn
What you get
A clean stove or insert and flue connection, a clean work area and a short summary of what we found, including any worn gaskets or seals.
